TORRANCE, California — On a bright Saturday morning at the Torrance Airport, laughter, music, and the strum of ukuleles filled the air. Children with visual impairments gathered alongside their families and community volunteers for the annual Notes Bring Hope event—a celebration of music and connection presented by Partners for Pediatric Vision (PPV).

This year's event, held on June 28, 2025, featured joyful ukulele lessons led by talented musician Mark Fitchett of Fitchett Guitar School, whose warmth and musical expertise made every child feel like a rock star. Thanks to a generous donation from the Guitar Center Music Foundation and from Shari Sunada and her husband Craig, each child received their very own ukulele to take home—opening the door to a what could be a new hobby or a spark to further explore their musical talents.

Notes Bring Hope is more than a day of music and discovery. It’s a celebration of inclusion and joy. “When families connect with one another, they realize they are not alone,” said Dr. Diane Christian, Executive Director of PPV. “This event is about more than music or flight—it’s about belonging.”

After the ukulele session, families took a short walk to the Western Museum of Flight for PPV's annual Touch Tour, an interactive experience where children explored aircraft up close—sitting in cockpits and learning about aviation through touch and storytelling provided by dedicated docents.
This special day would not have been possible without the incredible volunteers from Vistas for Children, Junior Vistas, Las Amigas, and the Western Museum of Flight (WMF), as well as our deeply committed PPV staff who coordinated every detail. We are especially grateful to Mark Fitchett for bringing music into the lives of our children, to Cindy Macha, WMF Executive Director, and to the docents at the museum who brought aviation history to life.

And most of all, thank you to the families who joined us. Seeing your children enjoy a new experience warms our hearts. Together, we’re keeping kids in sight—through music, hope, and connection.
