4th Annual Build a Bear Unites Children with Visual Impairment and Sighted Buddies

On June 2nd at 9:00 a.m., the Build a Bear at Del Amo Fashion Center opened two hours early to welcome children with vision loss and their families receiving services from Partners for Pediatric Vision. Along with our eager participants were sighted peers from Junior Vista’s, a co-ed junior philanthropy program that is part of Vistas for Children. Then the fun began. Opening Eyes: First Graders Experience Simulated Visual Impairment

The first graders at John Thomas Dye School experienced Low Vision on May 13th thanks to a 12-year partnership with Partners for Pediatric Vision (PPV). PPV comes to the campus of the school to provide a Low Vision Experience as part of the 1st grade service-learning curriculum. Simulated masks are made for each child to wear that represent a variety of visual conditions such as central or peripheral vision field loss, blind spots or blurred vision. Generous Donors Help Keep Kids in Sight

Our May 18th Wine and Dine to Keep Kids in Sight fundraiser was an evening of incredible wine, food and alliance that helped raise critical funding to empower children with visual impairment and their families. Guests were treated to Lamborn Family Wines by the proprietors themselves, Mike and Terry Lamborn, who poured a variety of vintages all handcrafted by winemaker superstar Heidi Barrett.
